The Best Thing About Not Being Home is Missing You

There are people back home that your character hates. Or maybe they love them, but they're terrible people/influences. Here's your chance to talk or play out that special someone turning up in the Meadous. Are they so far out of their element that they're now defanged tigers? Do they lead right in with their wicked ways? What is your character's CR even going to think when they meet this person?

Post with your own character or the person they most/least want to see again who's a bad thing for them. Feel free to play out encounters in the snow between this character and your regular character's CR, or talk it out with if you're not sure you've got the voice down.

Fun for all ages! And by fun, we mean misery!

It was another hooligan? She had a mind to stomp back to the hill cottage she'd woken in, fetch a pair of scissors and start seeing to all of them herself. "I require the use of your telephone, if you have one," she said stiffly. The noise in the background was strange, but she assumed it was some sort of program on the wireless. "And what are you wearing? Are you some sort of laborer?"

Hajime shook his head. "There aren't any phones here. It's just mail or the bulletin board." He frowned and looked down at himself as though to try to figure out what this woman's problem was. No, his clothes seemed just the same as always. Plain, but they covered up everything humans seemed to require to be covered up. "It's just clothing. I'm a photographer. Kamen Rider if the situation calls for it."

Another no on the phones. She was growing weary of this. When he mentioned photography, she rolled her eyes slightly. Common. She suspected, as much. But then there was this 'Kamen Rider' business. "And what precisely is a Kamen? Are you a circus performer, as well?"

Why did that word never translate correctly? Even the babelfish-things in space hadn't done it right... "It means I wear a mask. A mask and armor. I go out and fight monsters while riding a motorcycle." He looked a bit irritated. "I'm no performer."
nephewcrusher: (what drivel you read)

Agatha stared at the young man for several seconds. Then finally, she said, "What absolute nonsense you speak. Monsters? Motorcycles? And a mask? Bandits wear masks, boy." Her gaze sharpened. "Are you in league with the kidnappers?"
chalicejoker: (Grumpy)

[personal profile] chalicejoker 2014-02-21 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
Hajime's eyes narrowed a bit. "Kidnappers?" He shook his head. "I'm no bandit. Just a guy who fights monsters." He wondered if perhaps the woman needed to see a monster to get the picture, and the Darkroach racecar noises were not giving him good ideas.

"What do you mean monsters, child?" she demanded. "There are no such things."
chalicejoker: (Perplexed)

"'Child?'" Hajime echoed, insulted. He'd had enough. "Darkroach?" he called pleasantly towards the bedrooms, with the same tone of voice one might use to call a small child. The weird noises in the background stopped. There was a curious chirping noise. "We have a visitor. She's very new here, and I believe she could use a hug." He then took a couple of quick steps back from Agatha in order to give Darkroach room to operate.

Darkroach lumbered out from the hallway leading to the bedrooms in all his six-foot-tall bug glory, spotted Agatha, made a friendly chirping noise, and lunged in for that hug.

Agatha gave a bark of alarm not unlike a mastiff sounding the ranks over the moors of Lincolnshire. She turned and tried to run, but simply slipped on the icy ground and went flailing into a snow drift outside. She rolled over and made every attempt to fight at the monster that the boy had apparently been keeping in his house.
chalicejoker: (Amused)

[personal profile] chalicejoker 2014-02-22 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Darkroach scrambled after the poor lady who had fallen down into the snow drift. Don't worry, lady, he'll pull you out! He was making a few reassuring chirps as he tried to pull her out of the snow.

Hajime just watched all this play out from the doorway of his house. Sure, he could call Darkroach off, but where would be the fun in that? "What was that you were saying about monsters?"
nephewcrusher: (how DARE you)

[personal profile] nephewcrusher 2014-02-23 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Aunt Agatha sputtered in the snow, batting away Darkroach's attempts at attacking her. "You vile, boy! Call it off. You will call it off this instant!"
chalicejoker: (Satisfied)

[personal profile] chalicejoker 2014-02-23 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
"No, I don't think I will." Hajime was kicked back and continuing to watch from the doorway. "He needs the exercise."

Darkroach was still doggedly trying to rescue the poor fallen-over lady in all her wild flailing. He hissed when one of those batting attempts bopped him where his nose might be if he had one. Lady, he's just trying to help!

"Careful there, Darkroach," Hajime called after the minion, "watch those claws of yours. I don't want any more accidental poisonings." Actually, he was very careful to keep the insect's claws trimmed to avoid just that, but Agatha didn't need to know that. And really, he could have made it worse, transforming into his natural state to watch "his boy" attempt to help the woman. It was tempting, even if he loathed the form.
nephewcrusher: (wind me up will you?)

[personal profile] nephewcrusher 2014-02-23 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
Agatha's eyes bulged out, and she began to dig her freezing hands into the snow to hurl powder at the monster. "Demon child!" It was really the only thing she could think to say considering he didn't seem like he was going to call it off.

"Help! Help!" Perhaps there were better people in this God-forsaken village than him. Not that that would be a very high bar to rise above.
