By popular demand... the World of Darkness meme!

It's a Dark, Dark World.
Mostly old World of Darkness based, but if you like the New WoD, go for it!
The world is filled with cruelty, corruption, and despair. Lurking in the darkness... monsters. Of all kinds, origins, and forms. Creatures of evil and destruction, only marginally more familiar than the unknown terrors.
And now you're one of them.
This is a World of Darkness⢠inspired meme! Your character transforms into one of the following monstrous creatures listed below, and suffers the plight one faces as a result.
Since we like to play it fast and loose here at We the Lost, feel free to brainstorm what your characters would be, speculate how you'd interact with each other, and maybe even thread out a thing or two, if that's to your fancy!
1. Vampire: Whether you were Embraced by another Vampire in violence or in seduction, your transformation is powerful and traumatizing. Your body craves the blood, and the blood gives you eerie supernatural powers. Powers to control the mind, to enslave men, and the immortality to set any plans into motion you so deem... how do you spend eternity in your fight against boredom?
2. Werewolf: You lived for some time with no knowledge of your lineage, of the blood in your veins. A great power awakens in you, and in a moment of unfathomable anger you white out. And when you wake, you awaken to a shower of gore, your hands shrinking from giant clawed paws to what you recognize as fingers. Now there is that ever-present primal rage, simmering below the surface and urging you towards great and righteous battle against evils and against monstrous spirits...
3. Mage: Humans have long since been known to be wise and enlightened... but when your Avatar appears in your mind and your soul, you see the face of true enlightenment. You have the powers to shape and mold reality to be as you perceive it. Do you see the world as a canvas to paint upon? Do you see it as a weaving, with threads of fate that you can remove and displace? What is your reality, and how do you influence it?
4. Changeling: The world is dark, bleak, and worst of all it is simply banal. But deep inside was something hidden, that awakens from the dream. And now, with the powers of the Fae, you have the ability to inspire and combat banality with inspiration and imagination. But is the fight against the darkness and cruelty of the world a losing battle?
5. Hunter: With all of these monsters roaming the world, what is a human to do? They're powerless to protect themselves... or so it seems. You find yourself granted the power to see these monsters, to try and hold them in place and to be resourceful enough to destroy them. If you can manage the voices in your head or the madness of seeing the supernatural, be careful to not forget that you are just as painfully mortal as you were before...
6. Demon: At your lowest moment, when you lost yourself and your soul died, your body welcomed into it a new force. Deep inside nestled a new consciousness, which absorbed everything you were. You are now that Being, and that being is You. And You recall, faintly, a great war. You remember being an angel, a very being of creation, a very concept of reality such as the Breath of Life or the Illumination of Fire. And You remember what Hell was... it was not fire and brimstone. That would have been nice. It was a void of nothingness, where You could not even sense Yourself, since the fall of reality. And you have every reason to be resentful.
7. Other: Know how the Hengeyokai work? Want to be one of the Changing Breeds? Or maybe represent for Mummy, Wraith, Geist, Promethean, or another World of Darkness title? Do whatever you like! Have a blast!

He's beautiful and amorous and desires companionship, but being a Promethean, he repulses people with Disquiet -- mortals start feeling that there's something fundamentally wrong with him and are driven away. He's lucky that his aura of Disquiet never enraged someone to the point of attempting to kill him, but he's pretty much doomed to loneliness.
He was created by a Frankenstein who desired companionship, love and a little beauty in his life and stalked and killed a 19-year-old young man to turn into one of his kind. (During the making, Jay's creator discovered that his target was a trans man, but decided to just roll with it.)
Jay's fairly bitter, lonely and death-obsessed and this is so very little different from canon that it's actually funny.

But when things get Serious he's completely unphased and I feel like Jay would be rightly confused by this and also annoyed because why are you pretending to feel the disquiet when you actually don't, asshole

She just... pretends she is. She's intrigued by Jay - he does funky things to her various newfound death-related senses in ways that have nothing to do with the Disquiet. And also "fundamentally wrong" doesn't quite have entirely the same impact when you're only alive because you're partially possessed by the anthropomorphic personification of fatal vehicular collisions, yourself.

Things I still remember:
Vampire - Tzimisce. How I can remember how to spell that but not anything much else about Vampire is a MYSTERY.
Changeling - Nocker. So very. The Nocker Frailty drives him to distraction. "IT'S NEVER PERFECT!!!" (Sorry, Kurai and Xion.)

Kain's the latter. Golbez was an agent of a True Fae that was said to reside on the moon. He took the injured, jealous, angry dragoon away to Arcadia, and his master reshaped his mind and body. He's a Draconic Fairest now, still a fine fighter, but gifted with supernatural grace and fleetness and charm. Most can't see through the Mask that makes him look like a normal man, but those that can will see silver-blue scales rather than skin, horns curling back atop his head, and talons rather than fingernails.
(I am a pretentious dingus, yes yes...)

On the plus side, dragon. I mean, canon was basically that but without getting to be a dragon at the end, so.

Ammond thinks this is super awesome, and she's really not any more careful about stuff this go around, at all - as a Forgotten Celebrant, she's got both the risk-seeking behavior of someone who sees the living world as a series of gambles, and the hedonism of someone who feels she's got to get as much living in as possible before bad luck strikes again. And hey, living with the specter of a teenage boy who bleeds gasoline from multiple open wounds and has hyperreflective blank eyes bonded to her soul isn't nearly as unpleasant as it might sound.

So Ammond I hope you like having the shittiest werecat of all time just kind of attach himself to you because he has no idea what he's doing and you're one of the first people to be nice to him.

I mean usually he's a werewolf in supernatural creature AUs but I don't know enough about WoD werewolves to say anything on that front.

fuck you I totally go here
Either nWoD changeling, with its whole "you've been kidnapped and replaced" shtick, and all the misery that entails (Luke is his fetch, obviously, and he's probably some sort of sound spirit because obvious and also I Played At Changed)
Or nWoD Demon which is the one I've actually developed - new demon involves mechanical angels who are tools of the god machine, who for whatever reason decided to go "fuck this" about being a tool that got their memories wiped and put away until the next time they were needed
And so they're paranoid fuckers hiding out from the non fallen angels by maintaining humans lives as much as they can while still pursuing their demon things (which can include anything from "repenting and going back to the godmachine" to "blow that fucker up")
And as you might have guessed, asch falls on the "blow that fucker up" side. He was originally inserted into a "cover" of being the son of a rich woman who couldn't actually havr children (memory manipulation bullshit) and he kind of fell in love with the life. When the order to destroy it came, he refused and Fell, and wound up going on the run.
Which ended in a replacement angel being sent to the same cover, but that's another story. C': for the time being, Asch drifts along the edges of supernatural society, trading information and the occasional assassination to keep himself above water. Since even other magics can't detect a demon lying, anyone who knows him probably thinks he's a human, or a mage at most.
Also I once wrote a starter on a meme for this verse if you want to look at it (I'm the nwod demon lady it's me)

Sylvia had her first transformation when she was 15 and at school. It ended with several other girls eviscerated and Sylvia shipped away to India for hiding and treatment. Bertie's aunts watched him like a hawk after that. Aunt Dahlia was a hunter, after all. She had an inkling of what might happen with him. Bertie didn't have his first shift until he was in his mid-20s. So, he's a newly minted werewolf, actually. He managed to go storming off from a friend while out in the country before transforming, which saved him the heartache of murdering anyone. He did wake up with a deer carcass next to him, though, and flipped out. He went to his PA (we're calling this modern setting, right?), Jeeves, to figure out what happened.
Jeeves is helping him hide his condition as much as possible, but Bertie's been becoming more wild as his werewolf genetics exert themselves. They both try to argue that he's just eccentric, and he goes out to the country regularly to go 'hunting' to try to tame his inner beast and prevent any incidents.

I mean he's got an obnoxious werecrow and a werecrocodile looking out for him but apparently werewolf relationships with both of the above are a bit strained.

However, he is no less irritating than his canon self. Part of this is because he always knows everything (and tends to the trickster besides) but also because the Corax are one of the very few shifters to not be affected by silver, and so he has something of a habit of wearing silver.
He is also excessively fond of shiny things and may or may not have stolen anything that catches his eye regardless of who it might have belonged to.

This is probably how he winds up meeting the rest of shitty science family here.

Alternatively, for a very early canon point spin on things, he's a vampire, a very old, very nasty Gangrel, so proceed with caution because the boy's crazy. (Do not taunt Happy Fun Vampire.)
no subject
Old Elder Gangrel Hajime... well. Maybe he wandered into town not showing off his Elder-ness and wearing a much more benign face after diablerizing that one vampire that now seems to be stuck in his head and making him feel stuff again. So she went and said hello and has remained generally ignorant as to just what the heck is up with him.

Well, okay, okay, for the sake of being interesting, let's stick her in the Old World of Darkness. Natalie is no longer a Nosferatu, but a Tremere with an unsettling appearance, whose embrace was a little ritualistic and left nasty scars. Father would have been an influential but not-well-liked fellow in the Harbourvale chantry who found himself offed in much the same sort of political fashion, traumatizing Natalie in much the same way. (Tremere are big on mandatory blood bonds. Jacob was just sure to get the bond a little more bondy than strictly officially necessary.) Sadly, the chantry has Natalie a little more firmly under their thumb and keep a much closer eye on her, so she can't get up to nearly as much bad behavior, but she sure as hell tries.
She and father were also secret adherents to the heretical Cult of Lilith, shhh, don't tell anyone.

(Xigbar, by contrast, is just a were, so probably has less direct interaction with her.)

Like Asch, everyone probably thinks he's a human or a Mage at most. Especially since he's way better at actually aging.
He's been helping out the Veiled when he can and has a tendency to bring his son, Karkat, with him when he goes to meet with their representatives because the first time Karkat had to tag along to one of these meetings he ended up making friends with Murai. (They were both tiny. It was really cute.)
He's kind of conflicted as to whether or not to push for reintegration with the God-Machine or just to try to bring the whole thing down.

However, being unaware of some strange mystic business or higher powers up in the viens, that's a check.
Great power coming up and together with Rage? That's a check.
Waking up to a shower of gore? That is a rather unfortunate hefty check.
A righteous battle?
It seems there's a certain way of life for Gamzees and they all sort of tread in the same vaguely off-the-path direction. It's time to clap for the motherfucking Wolf man, motherfucker, because that's what Gamzee is.
He might try for a while, to pretend isn't a thing. (A long while. Like, as long as he can.) But eventually someone or other is going to come around to his neck of the woods-- maybe literally-- and he'll have no choice but to face up that he's being doing both a whole lot of nothing and a whole lot of not good. There is a 50% chance he was just too high to remember what he was doing, or at least, trying to get that way.
WAY LATE TO THE PARTY, BUT
He still misses it sometimes.
