We're going to say Bertie is a werewolf in this AU because, apparently, lycanthrophy is his bane when I write him in supernatural situations. It was his mum who was the werewolf, though she didn't actually know about it until shortly before she died. She and Pop Wooster managed to get into an argument while on a road trip and she kept getting angrier and angrier until... welp. They ran off the road, off a cliff, and into the sea. Their bodies washed up on the shore. So, Bertie and his sister Sylvia and the majority of his family lived with no knowledge of the fact that werewolf was in the blood.
Sylvia had her first transformation when she was 15 and at school. It ended with several other girls eviscerated and Sylvia shipped away to India for hiding and treatment. Bertie's aunts watched him like a hawk after that. Aunt Dahlia was a hunter, after all. She had an inkling of what might happen with him. Bertie didn't have his first shift until he was in his mid-20s. So, he's a newly minted werewolf, actually. He managed to go storming off from a friend while out in the country before transforming, which saved him the heartache of murdering anyone. He did wake up with a deer carcass next to him, though, and flipped out. He went to his PA (we're calling this modern setting, right?), Jeeves, to figure out what happened.
Jeeves is helping him hide his condition as much as possible, but Bertie's been becoming more wild as his werewolf genetics exert themselves. They both try to argue that he's just eccentric, and he goes out to the country regularly to go 'hunting' to try to tame his inner beast and prevent any incidents.
