The Best Thing About Not Being Home is Missing You

There are people back home that your character hates. Or maybe they love them, but they're terrible people/influences. Here's your chance to talk or play out that special someone turning up in the Meadous. Are they so far out of their element that they're now defanged tigers? Do they lead right in with their wicked ways? What is your character's CR even going to think when they meet this person?

Post with your own character or the person they most/least want to see again who's a bad thing for them. Feel free to play out encounters in the snow between this character and your regular character's CR, or talk it out with if you're not sure you've got the voice down.

Fun for all ages! And by fun, we mean misery!

This time, Agatha does have a withering look for Jay at the ready. He hasn't used one of his endearments this time, even if he's chosen insults instead. Those, she can tolerate. "Any girl who goes about dressed like that is asking for a man to take her in a dark alleyway behind the rubbish bins."

Most of Ammond's self-righteous rant gets ignored. What the old woman does catch on is her description of herself. "Troll? What nonsense." She snorts. "Shouldn't you be living under a bridge to terrorize people?"

Agatha was about to snarl that she doubted he was sorry in the least when she spotted the dog. Her heart melted ever so slightly. She simply sneers at Sasha before bending down and extending her hand toward the dachshund.

"Hello, little dear. What are you doing here, poor thing." Agatha shot another glare up at Sasha. "You keep a dog in that sinful house? For shame!"

"Well, there are under fifty people here and none of them are eligible due to various reasons - age, current marital or relationship status, gender, not to mention a lack of interest - so there hasn't really been much opportunity." Ineligible by what Aunt Agatha's standards seem to be, at least. "The only person here who is single, a woman, and not significantly younger than Bertie is Mika Whitepaws, and I think she's rather thoroughly disinterested. In any case, I'm sure you'll find that he's become markedly more self-sufficient in his time away from England."

Even if he does still have trouble with basic things like making his own tea. Improvements are improvements, though.

"That does remind me, where were you prior to arriving here, anyway? And for how long? Some of the others and I are trying to establish a pattern with regards to what sort of person is taken to this place." He'd elaborate more, of course, about the interversal travel and the little god's insistence that they were giving homes to people who didn't have one anymore, but he'd like to hear an answer first. Best not to bias subjects with your own hypotheses, no matter how sound and consistent they seem to be.

Ah. So Riku is present. He'd thought he might be, but having confirmation of that is certainly beneficial. It means he knows something of the nature any resistance to his presence will have, just as it means that he'll need to be somewhat more careful about seeing to that which will need to be seen to.

"I am... familiar with him, yes," he offers after a moment of consideration. "However, it may be somewhat inaccurate to say that I 'know' him."
letxequalnull: (just a smile)

[personal profile] letxequalnull 2014-02-21 09:00 am (UTC)(link)
It can be. In fact, it is, and whether this is a catastrophic error in the young god's judgement or the symptom of some darker force at work is something that Xemnas would hardly deign to mention even if he were aware of which one is the nature of his arrival here. Still, if it is the former, he can't say he's much pleased. He can work alone well enough, but he still feels a little unsettled about leaving Xigbar behind.

But he trusts Xigbar to know how to keep the plan running smoothly despite his absence, and it's only an inconvenience insomuch as the two of them working in tandem is somewhat more... efficient then working alone. But it doesn't matter. One of him should be more than enough for a world as small as this one seems to be.

"Can you truly have nothing to say?"
letxequalnull: (allow me to explain)

[personal profile] letxequalnull 2014-02-21 09:12 am (UTC)(link)
"It is something all those like me are capable of. Something we are granted that we might be better able to move between places." There's a pause, and then he continues on. "You may consider it a form of magic, if you wish."
letxequalnull: (Default)

[personal profile] letxequalnull 2014-02-21 09:30 am (UTC)(link)
It's more common than one might initially think. But the reasons for that aren't something that Xemnas is likely to mention, even if he had been aware of Bertie's thoughts on the matter. Instead, he turns to the other comments at hand, and although he doesn't take the offered hand, that's more for the fact that he's long since fallen out of the habit of physical contact than any sort of imagined slight.

Instead, he offers a polite sort of nod in return, before he gets about to the question.

"That is correct. I presume that you are less-recently arrived?"
letxequalnull: (just a smile)

[personal profile] letxequalnull 2014-02-21 09:36 am (UTC)(link)
Even if he had chosen to demand answers, it's very unlikely that Xemnas would have offered them. He has always tended to half-answers at best, and having things demanded of him is not really the best way to make him inclined to offer even that much.

(Which is not to say that Even can't try, but it isn't likely to help matters much in the long run.)

"Perhaps it is meant to be a mystery, then," he offers, with a smile that is really not likely to be comforting. All he knows for certain is that this isn't where he was, and that it is not entirely where he wants to be. But no matter. He will continue on as he always has, and that will do.

Amane can only smile at Hajime's declaration that he'd keep her safe. Of course he would! That's what he's always done, after all. So she nods, understanding. And oh, there are questions to answer... "No... I wasn't anywhere special. I was home. I went to bed, and when I woke up, I was here." She gives her head a curious tilt. "What do you mean, somewhere strange?"
nephewcrusher: (well what I think is...)

[personal profile] nephewcrusher 2014-02-21 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hmph!" The way she harrumphs is reminiscent of Bertie when he's in a snit. You can't be raised by someone and not pick up a few of their mannerisms. "Shall I, indeed? Well, it's good he hasn't gotten himself into any further trouble than this." Agatha gestures to the room around them, and lets a little note of fondness for her idiot nephew bleed into her voice.

"I was in London before arriving here. I'd been there for less than a week." She'd been planning to stay for the month. "And you never did uncomplicate your relationship with my nephew, boy. What are you to him?" Don't think she forgets or lets things go, Ienzo.

She looked aghast once more. "You keep children?" What horrible things would they have had to endure with people like this in a house. Agatha resolves to contact the proper authorities at once! After petting the dog a bit more. It reminded her of Macintosh. She wanted to rescue it from this place, but dognapping was absolutely below her.

After a moment more of cooing at the dog, she stood up straight once more. "I shall see they're removed from you, in that case. No child should have to suffer the vagaries of a pair of... inverts!"

"Huh?"

What an odd noise! Codi turns on her heel and squints at the large figure waving at her from one of the doorways.

She squints a bit more.

"...Hey, nice costume!" the ginger grins, finally deciding that, yes, this is what she wants to believe about this situation. "Is there some kind of parade or something happening? Is that why there's no one on the roads?"

"Mika, my sister!" The warou almost seemed to double in size, his temper boiling over. "Don't try to play stupid, she's the only other warou I can smell!"

If he'd been able to keep his composure he'd probably have realized exactly how out of line he was, but the sudden transplant and the worry for Mika's health had quickly sent his anxiety spiraling out of control. Which in turn triggered his very, very short temper. Mika would never let him hear the end of it if she'd seen him snapping at people like a rabid dog, but she wasn't there and that was the problem.

"It's..." He cut himself off with a sharp noise, looking away. He could still feel the temper boiling just beneath the surface, eating away at him. The anger was too out of control, fueled by fear and anxiety and stress and it wasn't helping.

"It's a mess. It's been a mess." His claws raked through his fur and he felt sick. "Mika hasn't been the same in a year, but from the letters it sounds like it's been more like five. That can't be right."

"I know, and it must be very hard for you to see her like that." Sasha said, "One moment, she is healthy looking, fully brown hair, well dressed, happiness in her eyes. And then you blink, and it is like someone cut her open and put her skin on her skeleton and pulled it out."

He sighed a little. "And then decided to run the skeleton through hell once or twice." Sasha could sense the feeling from Patches. "Time is odd, where I was at, for example, The Facility, I was there for about two years, went home and arrived right where I was taken from. Then I spent a summer at home and taken back. Only three days had passed, and after two more years I went home again for about a month- and now look. Another two years have passed."

Sasha brought a hand up to his mouth. "I wish all these places and beings would at least let the timelines flow in peace. It hurts everyone with how they do them."

"Nothing," Agatha replies. She doesn't trust whatever 'herbs' a gyspy might be using for tea, let alone his kitchen hygiene. The woman gets straight to the point. "Mr. Vantas is incapable of assisting in reaching the authorities outside this place. You were indicated as some suitable person to do so." The look she's giving him would seem to indicate that she has little belief in this.

"Maybe." Hajime just wasn't much of a smiler. He was making Darkroach nervous, even. Hajime abruptly dropped the smile. "Might be some of what's got that aura of darkness hanging around you, then?"

"'Child?'" Hajime echoed, insulted. He'd had enough. "Darkroach?" he called pleasantly towards the bedrooms, with the same tone of voice one might use to call a small child. The weird noises in the background stopped. There was a curious chirping noise. "We have a visitor. She's very new here, and I believe she could use a hug." He then took a couple of quick steps back from Agatha in order to give Darkroach room to operate.

Darkroach lumbered out from the hallway leading to the bedrooms in all his six-foot-tall bug glory, spotted Agatha, made a friendly chirping noise, and lunged in for that hug.

That's almost a lift of the eyebrows on Jacob's part. Almost. It's pretty dark out and it's probably not very noticeable anyway. "Ah. You're familiar with my daughter." He felt about for his walking stick, then rose to his feet. "And yes, I am her sire, as well."

He pauses for a moment, staring off somewhat vacantly into the distance. Certainly enough time to go searching for that family resemblance.... which there isn't much of, save for a similar unnerving feeling and similar unpleasant scent. "...there are penguins here, aren't there? Let's go and find out what a penguin's blood tastes like, Karkat."
