spitefulvitae: (A Touch Mad)

By popular demand... the World of Darkness meme!

It's a Dark, Dark World.

Mostly old World of Darkness based, but if you like the New WoD, go for it!

The world is filled with cruelty, corruption, and despair. Lurking in the darkness... monsters. Of all kinds, origins, and forms. Creatures of evil and destruction, only marginally more familiar than the unknown terrors.

And now you're one of them.

This is a World of Darknessā„¢ inspired meme! Your character transforms into one of the following monstrous creatures listed below, and suffers the plight one faces as a result.

Since we like to play it fast and loose here at We the Lost, feel free to brainstorm what your characters would be, speculate how you'd interact with each other, and maybe even thread out a thing or two, if that's to your fancy!

1. Vampire: Whether you were Embraced by another Vampire in violence or in seduction, your transformation is powerful and traumatizing. Your body craves the blood, and the blood gives you eerie supernatural powers. Powers to control the mind, to enslave men, and the immortality to set any plans into motion you so deem... how do you spend eternity in your fight against boredom?
2. Werewolf: You lived for some time with no knowledge of your lineage, of the blood in your veins. A great power awakens in you, and in a moment of unfathomable anger you white out. And when you wake, you awaken to a shower of gore, your hands shrinking from giant clawed paws to what you recognize as fingers. Now there is that ever-present primal rage, simmering below the surface and urging you towards great and righteous battle against evils and against monstrous spirits...
3. Mage: Humans have long since been known to be wise and enlightened... but when your Avatar appears in your mind and your soul, you see the face of true enlightenment. You have the powers to shape and mold reality to be as you perceive it. Do you see the world as a canvas to paint upon? Do you see it as a weaving, with threads of fate that you can remove and displace? What is your reality, and how do you influence it?
4. Changeling: The world is dark, bleak, and worst of all it is simply banal. But deep inside was something hidden, that awakens from the dream. And now, with the powers of the Fae, you have the ability to inspire and combat banality with inspiration and imagination. But is the fight against the darkness and cruelty of the world a losing battle?
5. Hunter: With all of these monsters roaming the world, what is a human to do? They're powerless to protect themselves... or so it seems. You find yourself granted the power to see these monsters, to try and hold them in place and to be resourceful enough to destroy them. If you can manage the voices in your head or the madness of seeing the supernatural, be careful to not forget that you are just as painfully mortal as you were before...
6. Demon: At your lowest moment, when you lost yourself and your soul died, your body welcomed into it a new force. Deep inside nestled a new consciousness, which absorbed everything you were. You are now that Being, and that being is You. And You recall, faintly, a great war. You remember being an angel, a very being of creation, a very concept of reality such as the Breath of Life or the Illumination of Fire. And You remember what Hell was... it was not fire and brimstone. That would have been nice. It was a void of nothingness, where You could not even sense Yourself, since the fall of reality. And you have every reason to be resentful.
7. Other: Know how the Hengeyokai work? Want to be one of the Changing Breeds? Or maybe represent for Mummy, Wraith, Geist, Promethean, or another World of Darkness title? Do whatever you like! Have a blast!

Oh, probably, yes. Mostly he hangs around with the weirdest science fam (three weres, him, and a fae) but he's still... a Gargoyle when you get right down to it and so there's that whole protect and serve thing going on.

But yes, he's good at friendly, so they can do that even if he probably has been passed off to someone higher-ranking.

Secrets are great, yes, and he would be quite indebted to her if she managed to cover for him.

Man Xigbraig what even is your problem

This is what she gets for hanging out with weres instead of finding a proper krewe.

Xigbraig is terrible, always. It's just a fact of life.

Bertie is the most unsubtle werewolf ever, he's definitely on their "keep an eye on this" list, and Murai seems to be the one in charge of surveillance on the area's low-risk supernaturals.

I also imagine that the Veiled take a rather low view of most other groups of Hunters - ideological differences with most large groups, pure snobbisness toward smaller factions.

Especially since Nemo does the same thing, only with him it's Constant Exasperation.

Jeeves should totes secretly be an angel, is all I'm saying.

Okay, also I think Nemo must have done a bit of Protecting before his Messenger gig because his urge to Dad at Bertie is not very much diminished in this setting.

Hkat and Murai were so totally friends since they were bitty things in the Veiled creche together. Then when she was thirteen or so Murai got promoted to being an active Hunter and sent off on her first mission and came back kind of unhinged and probably ended up right back in day care with Hkat.

These days she's in better shape but she's still mostly just trusted with low-level surveillance of the various local supernatural beings who are so inept they probably couldn't go rogue enough to be a danger without falling down three flights of stairs, anyway. Hkat probably gets to hear more gossip than he really needs to about what that weird mixed-species werepack is up to.

At least in this case she can probably eventually put the pieces together and figure out what he is, either by carefully reviewing the Order's records or by tracking down one of the less competent members of his circle and badgering them until they tell her.

Probably something stupid. Possibly there was "lighting a vampire on fire in a dark alley because he got too nosy" involved.

Nemo's clucking gets exasperated but it is a more good natured exasperation than most everyone else gets

Also probably Nemo is the one who found out and informed Asch "hey dude the machine just replaced you with a new, douchier model" when Luke started existing so that's a thing

Since I'd assume Nemo hears of the tragic amnesia of Luke fon Fabre through the rich relative grapevine somehow

Hahaha. Karkat was so totally jealous when she got promoted. It was NOT FAIR that she got to do that stuff just because she was a real Veiled and not a frequent visitor who ends up spending weeks at a time in the creche while his Dad helps out the grown-ups. (I dunno why Karkat ended up tagging along that first time when he was, like, three, but I do know that Nemo always brings him now because he knows that Karkat and Murai are just so fucking tight together and this way his son can have bff time with her.)

You know that Murai's probably returned the visits a few times if the adult Veiled will let her? Because Karkat DOES still live in the commune from >Connect with his sister and cousins and stuff when he's not tagging along with his dad. Maybe she went to chill there and hang out with Karkat's cousins while she was in recovery from the mission.

If nothing else, he heard it from his cover's mom who heard it from her stupidly rich sister, Betty Crocker.

Oh, yeah, I'm sure that even with how secretive and "we are ancient conspiracy" the Veiled are, someone would recognize that headquarters is not the best place for a traumatized kid. A powerful ally's out of the way farm with other kids her age would be a great place to send her to recover.

Then someone had to explain to Nepeta to keep the play-screaming to a minimum while Karkat's weird friend is around because it gives her panic attacks.

This is true! And he's quite content to be not actually dangerous, apart being a wereraven. Plus he knows a lot, if Murai can put up with him talking at great length on a semi-regular basis.

He tries so hard to keep under the radar, not hurt anyone, and just generally Be Human! D=

Aunt Dahlia's not terribly impressed with the Veil. It would be hilarious for her to catch Murai keeping an eye on Bertie and telling her to fuck off in so many words.
preuxchevalier: (oh god what next?)

[personal profile] preuxchevalier 2014-01-10 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Well, this is going to go super well. Bertie tries to avoid the local pack as much as humanly possible because he just wants to pretend he's HUMAN. The MOST HUMAN. He's super wary about Ienzo at first because what do they mean, dumping this other chappie on my doorstep? But he's too much of a social animal for that to keep up, so he'd start following Ienzo about, asking him questions. After all, since Bertie tries to avoid other werewolves, he doesn't get to talk to many wereanythings. How are werecats different? SO STRANGE!

Wow, does this guy make Bertie's metaphorical tail curl between his legs. Why so much silver? WHY? I envision Xigbar one day deciding to replace all of the silverware in the house with actual silver to watch Ienzo and Bertie squirm.

Look, Bertie, if you're on the half-crazy teenager's beat, you're probably doing pretty good. If anyone actually thought you were dangerous you'd have, like, Jhalm or someone keeping tabs on you.

OTOH, he has attracted some attention, so maybe if Dahlia could keep her monster relatives under closer control the Veil wouldn't have to get involved.

Murai is, after all, ludicrously patient. He's not her favorite person to deal with, but she'll manage.

A demon being protective over a werewolf... who has a hunter as a relative. This is going to go great for you, Nemo. Aunt Dahlia IS watching you.
