spitefulvitae: (A Touch Mad)

By popular demand... the World of Darkness meme!

It's a Dark, Dark World.

Mostly old World of Darkness based, but if you like the New WoD, go for it!

The world is filled with cruelty, corruption, and despair. Lurking in the darkness... monsters. Of all kinds, origins, and forms. Creatures of evil and destruction, only marginally more familiar than the unknown terrors.

And now you're one of them.

This is a World of Darknessā„¢ inspired meme! Your character transforms into one of the following monstrous creatures listed below, and suffers the plight one faces as a result.

Since we like to play it fast and loose here at We the Lost, feel free to brainstorm what your characters would be, speculate how you'd interact with each other, and maybe even thread out a thing or two, if that's to your fancy!

1. Vampire: Whether you were Embraced by another Vampire in violence or in seduction, your transformation is powerful and traumatizing. Your body craves the blood, and the blood gives you eerie supernatural powers. Powers to control the mind, to enslave men, and the immortality to set any plans into motion you so deem... how do you spend eternity in your fight against boredom?
2. Werewolf: You lived for some time with no knowledge of your lineage, of the blood in your veins. A great power awakens in you, and in a moment of unfathomable anger you white out. And when you wake, you awaken to a shower of gore, your hands shrinking from giant clawed paws to what you recognize as fingers. Now there is that ever-present primal rage, simmering below the surface and urging you towards great and righteous battle against evils and against monstrous spirits...
3. Mage: Humans have long since been known to be wise and enlightened... but when your Avatar appears in your mind and your soul, you see the face of true enlightenment. You have the powers to shape and mold reality to be as you perceive it. Do you see the world as a canvas to paint upon? Do you see it as a weaving, with threads of fate that you can remove and displace? What is your reality, and how do you influence it?
4. Changeling: The world is dark, bleak, and worst of all it is simply banal. But deep inside was something hidden, that awakens from the dream. And now, with the powers of the Fae, you have the ability to inspire and combat banality with inspiration and imagination. But is the fight against the darkness and cruelty of the world a losing battle?
5. Hunter: With all of these monsters roaming the world, what is a human to do? They're powerless to protect themselves... or so it seems. You find yourself granted the power to see these monsters, to try and hold them in place and to be resourceful enough to destroy them. If you can manage the voices in your head or the madness of seeing the supernatural, be careful to not forget that you are just as painfully mortal as you were before...
6. Demon: At your lowest moment, when you lost yourself and your soul died, your body welcomed into it a new force. Deep inside nestled a new consciousness, which absorbed everything you were. You are now that Being, and that being is You. And You recall, faintly, a great war. You remember being an angel, a very being of creation, a very concept of reality such as the Breath of Life or the Illumination of Fire. And You remember what Hell was... it was not fire and brimstone. That would have been nice. It was a void of nothingness, where You could not even sense Yourself, since the fall of reality. And you have every reason to be resentful.
7. Other: Know how the Hengeyokai work? Want to be one of the Changing Breeds? Or maybe represent for Mummy, Wraith, Geist, Promethean, or another World of Darkness title? Do whatever you like! Have a blast!

hello fellow demon

(nemo is unfortunately never sure if he wants to go back to god-machine or just blow that fucker up)

After the local Garou pack sorts out Not Getting Ienzo Arrested by the human police and making sure to uphold the veil, they probably just dump him on their friendly neighborhood Corax informant. You're not a wolf, he's not a wolf, maybe you can figure out how to make sure he doesn't die or frenzy or anything.

This is probably how he winds up meeting the rest of shitty science family here.

Asch will probably nudge him towards "let's blow it up"

And probably also hide out at the farm when his cover's at riisk sorry nemo

So, assuming Asch isn't all the informant that Murai needs, how would she like a gangly sort of dude who always seems to know everything and while very definitely not human, also wears too much silver to be a werewolf, if absolutely nothing else.
brokenallthelaws: (surely you can't mean me?)

[personal profile] brokenallthelaws 2014-01-09 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
So assuming that Ienzo gets shunted off to live with Bertie, this means he probably has to deal with Ienzo's obnoxious were-raven not!uncle. On the one hand, wereravens and werewolves get along tolerably well. On the other hand, there are persistent rumors that Corax have managed to figure out pretty much all of the various things the Garou can do and also he's something of an incorrigible prankster.

And also has a fondness for wearing silver, since wereravens are immune to effects of that.
brokenallthelaws: (just your friendly average dude)

[personal profile] brokenallthelaws 2014-01-09 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that seems entirely reasonable. Plus the Corax probably don't have the Bastet as thoroughly figured out as they do the Garou, so it's probably a rare treat for him too.

(He manages to figure out the not dying or frenzying thing well enough, fortunately, but still has a habit of wearing Too Much Silver.)

Ok so one of the things about Sin-Eaters is that they can get power from "mementos" or artifacts imbued with death energy, and when the mementos are small enough they really like to incorporate them into clothing and jewelry and generally just bling themselves out with morbid crap.

And also between Ammond's personal tastes and the interests of her Geist, a disproportionate amount of the mementos she carries are the result of traffic accidents and therefore tend toward being like hood ornaments and tail-light bulbs and other assorted bits of shiny metal or glass.

So what I'm saying is how long before this kinda-mostly-human girl hanging around your weird Bagheera friend starts noticing that her mystical charms are going missing.

Even is not bothered by the silver. On the other hand, he finds Xigbar on his own plenty bothersome, so it balances out. (This may be because Xigbar keeps stealing his projects, sometimes before they're even finished.)
brokenallthelaws: (starting the day off right)

[personal profile] brokenallthelaws 2014-01-10 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Prrrrrobably not very long, unless he's using the thing that makes people forget they ever had the thing in the first place. But he probably mostly doesn't, so... yeah, sooner or later some of them are going to go missing.

Not all of them, but some.
brokenallthelaws: (surely you can't mean me?)

[personal profile] brokenallthelaws 2014-01-10 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Clearly Even should stop a) being easy to rile and b) making his projects shiny.

If he ever finds out Xigbraig's weakness, he's going to coat everything he owns with a molecule-thin layer of gold.
brokenallthelaws: (one last chance to come away with us)

And this is why no one is ever going to know about that.

...You know, inasmuch as Changelings have both a human and a fairy soul, I wonder if they can be affected by Disquiet after all? I suspect it may depend on the individual Glamour : Banality ratio at any given time. Unfortunately, Even's Banality is probably pretty high, because forties is a very respectable age for a Changeling (least favorite thing about Changeling: the Dreaming: its mechanic where the world slowly kills the magic in you as you get older blah blah dumbshit). Presumably he's been scrupulously balancing it, but he might be more affected by the Disquiet than he wants to admit (because a. it's irrational and dumb and b. he doesn't want to admit to being affected by Banality).

Bagheera have the lowest or second lowest base rage of any of the cats so at least they have an easier time of getting that under control than the could have otherwise.

Xigbar is still the fucking worst uncle though and Ienzo is perpetually really mad about the silver thing.

So I wiki'd all over the place for this and hahahaha Promethians not understanding emotions and wanting to be human, this is Hajime's canon life. He's a Tammuz, a golem, probably a dead soldier someone hauled away from some battlefield and set up to destroy things. At some point, he rejected that path, likely because he saw something like, say, a man dying to protect his family and became confused about this thing the humans call love. Maybe not smashing things is the answer. He's all unsettling with his Disquiet and the fact that he looks like he's made out of cracked clay and also has a glowing sigil and the word "Protect" slapped on his forehead.

Alternatively, for a very early canon point spin on things, he's a vampire, a very old, very nasty Gangrel, so proceed with caution because the boy's crazy. (Do not taunt Happy Fun Vampire.)

Well, he can't steal her keystone, that's mystically cued to her and doesn't even physically exist most of the time. And if she's got a vanitas she'd keep it safe at home. I doubt she'd have any deathmasks or memorabilia - those are more powerful and harder to get - but she's got some charms and c'mon, dude, that's a fetter, that's got a ghost in it. What do you want a ghost for, you're a bird.

[personal profile] brokenallthelaws 2014-01-10 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Wiki suggests that Corax are not really big on rage either (they have it, but apparently don't usually develop it much), so at least that is relatively easy to deal with, plus... he knows werewolves rrrrreally well.

No lie, that is probably part of the reason he wears it.
brokenallthelaws: (just your friendly average dude)

[personal profile] brokenallthelaws 2014-01-10 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
He doesn't. It's just that well... corvids. Also because maybe he wants to figure it out, but mostly, no, corvids.

So you know how Asch is a demon? So is Nemo. He's actually pretty good at it too, he's kept his cover going for decades. Long enough, in fact, to father a kid or two. (It probably helps that he makes sure his body ages in realtime.)

So old hippie guy who occasionally works with the Veiled and has probably brought his son with him when he visits. Gosh, what if Hkat and Murai were friends since they were tiny in this?

ADDENDUM

[personal profile] defrostedpride 2014-01-10 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
OKAY SO Changeling has this "Banality" mechanic where your morality gauge is really your magic/belief gauge. Banality is low in children overall and then blah blah World of Darkness sucks so you lose the ability to believe in magic when faced with things like taxes. Changelings are Changelings rather than true fae because being half-mortal is the only way to survive. A Changeling exposed to large amounts of Banality essentially loses their Changeling nature and becomes fully mortal, losing all memories of their fae life. However, an infusion of enough Glamour can reawaken the fae soul and bring the Changeling back.

This has definitely happened to Even in the past.

He's...back, somehow, but he's really careful these days about keeping his Banality low and his Glamour high (often skirting dangerously close to Bedlam, aka "wow too much Dreaming not good for you"), avoiding combat especially with chimerical weapons, and so on. He preferentially hangs out with all these other nonhumans, because while their Banality is variable, it tends to be lower than that of mortals.

So, Aeleus is a Gargoyle in this AU, and while his original master has... vanished/gotten torpored/something and passed off ownership of him some...how, the bloodline is still more or less under Tremere control.

(Xigbar, by contrast, is just a were, so probably has less direct interaction with her.)

Like Asch, Nemo is a demon! He used to be a Messenger for the God-Machine among the hippies--with a long-term Cover and everything--and he did that for a respectable number of years before fucking up and falling and finding himself fully human. Forgetting that meant he could knock people up, half-demon child(ren) resulted. Ooops.

Like Asch, everyone probably thinks he's a human or a Mage at most. Especially since he's way better at actually aging.

He's been helping out the Veiled when he can and has a tendency to bring his son, Karkat, with him when he goes to meet with their representatives because the first time Karkat had to tag along to one of these meetings he ended up making friends with Murai. (They were both tiny. It was really cute.)

He's kind of conflicted as to whether or not to push for reintegration with the God-Machine or just to try to bring the whole thing down.

oh GOD asch, you dumbass

nemo totally clucks at him about not doing a better job at maintaining his cover

because seriously, asch, it's not that hard to age like a normal person

or you know, whatever it is that asch messed up on, idk
